Akhmat played out a 1–1 draw with Lokomotiv in their Matchday 8 RPL clash.
The home side took the lead in the 46th minute through forward Egas Kasintura, but Lokomotiv hit back as Aleksei Batrakov levelled in the 80th minute.
At the post-match press conference, Stanislav Cherchesov answered questions from journalists:
— I think the fans enjoyed the game. With every match, more of them are coming to the stands, which is encouraging. Lokomotiv remain unbeaten this season – they are a team that plays good football. We couldn’t quite hold out, though we had a chance to take the match to its logical conclusion, but overall I liked the performance. Our players were disappointed with the result, and if we are unhappy with a draw against Lokomotiv, it means we are moving in the right direction. I thanked the guys. The draw, to some extent, was a fair outcome.
— What are your thoughts on the draw, especially after the missed one-on-one chance at the end of the match?
— We don’t blame Konate – he made the run, but the ball landed on his left foot. It was difficult to score from there.
— What can you say about Zhemaletdinov’s debut?
— We know Rifat’s abilities. When he has the ball, he always makes the right decision. The problem is that he hasn’t played for a long time and still needs to get back into shape. We need to ease him back into the game gradually.
— What was the reason for Ibishev’s substitution?
— He took a knock to the leg. We hope he and Keliano will be ready for the match against Zenit. At the moment, we lack equivalent replacements in such forced situations. Amadi has just joined us, and we also have some young players that we’ll be bringing into the squad.
