Akhmat suffered a 1-2 defeat in Matchday 4 away fixture of the RPL Path group stage of the Russian Cup.

 

The hosts’ win came courtesy of a brace from Aleksandr Sobolev. The 28-year-old striker struck in the 43rd and 59th minutes. Akhmat’s only reply came in the 73rd minute through Nader Gandri.

 

Stanislav Cherchesov provided the following comments after the match: 

 

It’s never easy playing against Zenit — we expected a match like this. Our set pieces didn’t go as planned today, even though we did manage to score from one. Still, that’s not quite up to our standards. We’ll continue to work even harder. I want to thank the players for their effort, especially for the way they played in the second half.
